Well its 11:00 and I am detailing my last 2 rims right now that have my snowies on them. Yea I know it seems a bit nuts but YEA I AM! They will be easier to get clean later.

You should actually detail the underside of the car too - there are many rustable parts that don't like salt...

I'm not sure if the bag of sand is a good idea for this car - considering the 50:50 weight distribution. If you have winter tires it should be all you need, along with the respect for mother nature. I'd think the extra weight in the rear would make the car more prone to spin on icy ramps? Then again, I'm no expert.

More weight over the rear puts more grip at the drive wheels making them hold better. Though at the limits of adhesion on dry we like 50/50 so all wheels can be pushed over and not have the car plow or fish tail.
Oh a side note. I stood my old fronts 215/45 and my new fronts 205/50 side by side and there was like a full finger height difference. Granted the new tires are like new and the old are BALD but I was blown away at the height difference.
