the 1st concept was SSM, as in Sport Study Model. A few years later the SSX came out which was a revised version, looking very much like our S. I don't recall if the SS stood for Sport Study or what, the key however at the time was the X, this was almost like saying the car is not just a concept, it will become reality. When I saw the name had changed to SSX I was rejoycing becase back then the X refered to low volume production specialties such as NSX.

I remember the SSM concept car; I wasn't really blown away. When it became reality in the form of an S2000, I fell in love with it. It seemed like the logical step up from my Miata.
