Love the hard top Convertable!
I was really excited about the Z4 this time last year. I liked the styling from what they showed on pics, and the vert hardtop was a huge plus. I already knew the powerplant is impressive from driving the 335i.
When I saw it in person in the showroom, I was pretty disappointed with its styling. It's nice... it's OK, but those BMW signature crease lines began to annoy me just like they did in other BWM's. I much prefer the simple, elegant and timeless curve lines like those on Cayman and FD RX-7. It's also a bigger and heavier car than I'd hoped.
I have the same gripe about its interior as I did w/ the previous Z4: the dominating hood line when you in the seat. Its length and height make it so obstructive that I feel like I am far apart from the road, giving me a disconnected feel. The interior overall just doesn't have that "driver's car" feel - it resembles closer to a blvd cruiser. I haven't driven it though... maybe that would change my mind about the car.

Yeah, those are slick. I have no idea how those things drive, but the strike me as appealing more to the professional who might want to put the top down once a year or the Vintage crowd. More for touring than for sport.
