Default Spring is here...(as far as I'm concerned).

I never liked the "official" start to the seasons. Maybe I'm just wired differently or maybe it has something to do with never having outgrown my childhood, but to me March means spring. Not March 20th or March 21st, just March. As soon as it's March it's spring and I don't care how many feet of snow are piled up in front of my house or how cold it gets outside. Once the "...uary" months are gone, so is winter.

I feel the same about Summer. I think this comes from school vacation, but June equals summer. I'm willing to let Summer slip into September a little way, maybe a week or two past Labor day. After all, its hard to give up summer. As for winter, as much as I hate it, there is no way it starts in December. Winter starts the day after Thanksgiving and that's it. The end of November is too cold to call Fall and I refuse to insult that fine but short season by trying to stretch it into frozen December and give it a bad name.

So anyway, I wish you all a happy Spring today. To celebrate, I'll be taking Suzuka for a little spin when the sun comes up today. I hope to see you all on the road.

Happy Motoring!

Bill

You know, it's funny you say this Bill. I had the same conversation with the old lady yesterday. When I picked up my car I noticed that when I am in it I really do feel like it is spring. Even though there is still some snow lingering around, there isn't any salt on the road due to all the rain we have had. As long as we don't get any more weather that calls for salt and the ground stays as dry as it has been, I am driving her regularly.

Way to go Jeff. Drove mine all day today. It was great. Temps in the 40s, not bad. Had the windows down, if not the top. A little snow on the way home at night, but no sliding. Com'mon Spring! Keep heatin' up baby.

I have to agree that things seem to be going backwards - just looked out my window and took these just a few minutes ago - yes, the white streaks in the camera are what you think they are...

Anyone who lives in a nicer climate wanna switch houses for a while? I'm only 30 minutes from Okemo and 45 minutes from Killington...

Here in upstate New York it was 10 below yesterday, and 5 below today. We still have snow that's over two feet deep, and that's not snow banks. Spring is never going to come.
