Test drove an Si
I test drove the Civic Si Coupe yesterday. The motor's got some giddy up, fun to drive. Talking with the salesman, he just got back from test driving the brand new CR-V, which will be formally anounced by Honda Sept 1st. Said it was very similar to the RDX but without the turbo. It'll be the same 4 cylinder that's in the Accord. He also said that Honda execs confirmed that the Civic Sedan Si is a reality and will be coming out this fall. He also said that they confirmed the the S2K is no more.....hmmmmm

Yep, the 2000 model year will be the last year for the S.
I know, I know, they've been saying it every year since 2001, but I tend to believe it this year.

Sales are falling rapidly on the S2000 the last few months, way down from previous years. Honda does no advertising for the car and they won't even run them as pace cars in IRL which I just think is so short sighted. It's the people who watch racing that would be most interested in this model - not a freakin' Accord Hybrid

06 or 07 - the end is in site I think. I am SOOOOO happy I got mine this year. On the other hand - as an owner of a 1980 Prelude, I would LOVE to see that model name live again. But not at the expense of the S... unless the Prelude was a convertible...
Word I've heard is the next Accord will get a Convertible model to go up against the Solara and G6 convertibles. And it sounds like it's goin to be a HT vert, not softtop. These are reliable sources and the scenario makes sense as I have heard about the Accord convertible was supposed to debut with the current 7th gen model but was axed due to possible canniblizing of S2000 sales and a HT would have put the price into orbit.
Convertibles ARE making a comeback, more and more makers are introducing new models and there are more to come. I don't expect Honda to leave us out in the cold (no pun intended
