Default Top Recommendation?

Hi All -

I'm a soon-to-be S2000 owner, new to the group. The car is a 2000, decent overall shape, but desperately needs a new convertible top.

I'm located in Nashua, NH, about an hour north of Boston. Can anyone recommend a reputable shop to install a new top, preferably in the Boston North or southern NH areas?

What about service generally? I use Mieneke for my "driver" car. Can a "general-purpose" shop like that handle the S2000, or am I better off trying to find an S2000 specialist?

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

Gary

I work at a Honda dealership (central nh) and did the soft top on mine last year. It wasn't to bad to do but took a lot of time to do

Jake (jsenclosure) over near Albany, NY has installed many tops, including my son's. His price is right, he does a great job, and it will be worth your trip.

Thanks, guys, for the responses.

I'm not really set up to install the top myself, but I may check out Jake in Albany, despite the distance (just over 3 1/2 hours).

No, Meinike or the like cannot, should not service your S. Alignments maybe. Not other service.

Even the oil change on this car will trip up most. It uses a different oil filter, yet the same one used on other Hondas will fit, just wont flow enough. Also, the filter must be torqued ON with a wrench. You tighten additional 7/8s of turn after it first touches.

Dont go to the dealer either, they can be thw worst!

Thanks for the info.

The car failed the state inspection Saturday. Goes over to Granite State Dyno Tune in Hudson, NH, (just a few miles from me, recommended by people here) next week for the needed work. I'll let you know how it works out.

Just a quick follow-up. I can't say enough good things about both Granite State Dyno & Tune and Jake in Albany.

I had Granite State do some mechanical work and tires so the car would pass inspection. After some parts issues that weren't their fault, everything turned out OK. The car runs great and is a blast to drive.

As I mentioned in the first post and Jake's "before" photo shows, the car needed a new top rather badly. I bought a top online using Jake's recommendation, and Jake did a great job installing it.

Both Jake and Granite State provided transportation to/from work or the airport in Albany. I am happy to recommend either one for your S2000 needs.
