So can I ask about how much you are spending to have 4 removed?
These 4 are $2300 cash to have taken down. That includes our own disposal of the wood otherwise cost would be higher. One of the big costs here are the power lines with 2 of the trees and the remote location of the house. The guy will have to drive that crane about 50 miles of VT backroads to get to the house.

Wow, got it, thanks for explanation of what's driving the cost. Maybe I should get a quote from my tree guy. I know my neighbor would love to have my Pine gone, and so would I . I have such a narrow gap when I back the trailer into its parking spot and that Pine is what makes it so tight.

I totally hear ya about doing the removal yorself, when I had my badly neglected trees cleaned up I told them to cut and drop. It took me a week to run all that crap through the big chipper I share with my parents.

Good luck, and congrats, this should end up cleaning up your nard nicely!

I did not, but you did ask politely, with genuine interest in cost for your own tree removal. This meets with my approval, if you care.

However, Mike/daktruckie had the right to say, MYOB, if he had chosen to.

I have a tree-removal nightmare story:

A co-worker of mine had a neighbor that wanted to put a
pool in and he came over and asked if he could trim a
couple of trees that were overhanging his property so
that the pool would get sunlight. My co-worker agreed.

Well, he came home one day to find that EVERY TREE
in his backyard had been CUT DOWN! I mean they
were cut right to the ground, the branches and all the
wood was taken away in the period of about 6 hours
while the guy I work with was out.

He is currently suing the neighbor for what could easily
turn out to be 6 figures to have the trees replaced. It
was about 2 dozen maples, oaks, white birches, full
sized trees that were shade and privacy for the property.

HOLY CHIT!!!

Trees like that MAKE the property. If for some reason the huge Crimson King Maple were taken from my front yard I cannot imagine how my value/desirablity would change as it shades the house from afternoon sun, and affords me some privacy from the road.

It sounds like this neighbor butchered his property. I hope your co-worker wins big time and gets the money. And I have to say, if it were me, I would seriously be thinking about moving, because that just sounds like an ugly neighbor situation to have to deal with.

I just spent most of my tree removal money on a new 40" LCD tv, I blame S2kI and the damn entertainment center thread!

I had the neighbor from hell a few years back.
we have covenants which restrict cutting of any trees over 6 in trunk diameter.

I just suggested to his tree cutters if so much as a twig fell on my property they'd be in court the next day. Two companies split immediately.
our property lines are kind of hard to follow and I wound up getting a survey over it.
I wish I had a camera when he realized that he had cut trees on my property.
He was as white as a ghost.

I just kept that in my pocket as a potential lawsuit until he moved.
