I wouldn't bother with any of them. I bought my brand new 02 in October of 02 for around 28,500. Why pay 27000 for an 11,000 mile car when you can have new for 1500 more. In November and December, dealers will be dying to dump the remaining 04s. Go to three or four dealers and start playing them off against eachother.

If you want to save dough, get a used 00 - 03 from a private party. I recommend the 02-03s which have the revised suspensions and glass rear windows. Look for a seller who bought the extended warranty. It is transferable. Hope this helps.

Take your time the right one will come your way. Even if you have to take a ride to look at them. Carol and I went down to Honda North in Danvers, MA (3 1/2 -4 hours) to get the one that we have, but had 4 others within 45 minutes to also look at the same day, we took the cream puff.
Parts missing at a dealer just tell them it's a make or break and they'll replace it, tires also can be negotiated weather it's a dealer or private owner. You can find some parts on Ebay or other suppliers for less than the dealer cost so that shouldn't be the deciding factor, but if the car is beat just keep looking.
Just sit back and do some searches this will help you with what's out there and how much their going for but also where there located like south of France.
Like Bill said end of year slow season is coming and it can save you some bucks too.
Good luck,
Carol & Lou

With NADA book in hand

List is $27,875
Trade-in is $23,825
Loan is $21,450

all NADA prices are about $2000 over value

I would argue that the 05's are coming and so is winter. I would pay no more than $23,000 retail .

NADA says MY01 is worth $23,000 and we see them going at auction for $14,000 to $16,000

I bought mine new for $28,600 and I didn't even ask for a deal.

hahaha! That's exactly what Justin said earlier today.
I suppose it couldn't hurt to make an offer of 23k with tires and a windscreen. I know they'll turn it down, but it can't hurt to try. I do like the car.
I may decide to save up a substantial downpayment over the course of the winter for either a brand new 05 of my choice, or Josh's 04 S2k if he still has it come early spring. I just have to think it over and make a final decision. You've all been a great help!

(oh and...Hooray for my first official thread and post!!!)

I think the best way to go may be to find a new 04 in the winter. There is supposed to be little or no change to th 05's so you may be able to save some $ on a left over 04.

When I was looking for an S2000 I was set on used one, and in the end, it just didn't make sense getting a used one; for a few thousand extra, you get a brand new car with no stories, your color, new tires, full length warranty, and benefit of service from buying from your local dealer...

One bad experience can put a bad taste in your mouth for the whole tenure of the car, and you would've wanted a new one at that point.

If you have to buy used, expand your search to nationwide. There's been several nice S2000's sold on EBay and if you go for an '02, you should be able to get a good deal (2002 is the best year on used one because you get an extra year of depreciation and the updates of 2002/2003).
