Default Trying to fall back in love with the S

After having the S on and off since 2002, I admit I am a bit bored with it.

I still enjoy driving it, and pause to admire it from time to time, but some of the "oomph" is gone from our relationship

So, I figured I know the cure... More toys for it.

I am happy (for now) with the performance. I enjoy my Greddy TiC and the AEM intake enough to get me by for now. I think the interior blandness is what is killing me. So, I complied a list of things to do/buy that should help me light the flame again. Hopefully.

- complete DJ Qube dash setup in blue
- redesign the screen setup for my carputer
- faster processor for the CPU
- get another V1 and finish the mount I had designed for it
- New seat/console covers (maybe)

Now, I would REALLY fall back in love with it if I do the following:

-spoon front bumper
-shine hardtop (although losing quick access to the trunk would blow)

Anyone else go through a cooling off period with their S and have to do something to spice up the relationship? What did you do?

I loved my S2000. Still have great admiration for it, but it was time to move on and grow. I traded it in.....

When I think I'm tired of it I take it for a drive.

Jeff hardtotop, Im like you I get bored with it. It sits there more nowadays than it gets driven. The one thing I find that works for me is I take it out for a good romp once in a while. After that I realize that there are no cars out there that offer me the same performance etc for the same $$. So it gets parked until the next ride. I know that this is not an option for you as you use yours as a daily but if you could pick up a beater and drive the S less you would actually probably enjoy it more.

Well, because I have the company car, I only put a few miles a week on it. I probably actually drive it once or twice a week at best sometimes much less. And, I always enjoy the ride. Like I said, the performance is not the problem. So, I don't think that satisfaction with the handling or something is the issue.

I just think it needs more visual stimulation from the interior view. I love the way the outside looks, but the inside is WAY too bland. Hence I need to make some changes. In retrospect, I probably bought the wrong car and should have went with a G35 coupe or something like that. But I really enjoy the high revving nature and mario-kart feel of the S. Hopefully with a few tweeks I can make it more enjoyable instead of shit canning it.

I'd be better off if I could convince a dealer to offer me 6 month leases. Then I could drive a new car every 6 months and be happy as a pig in shit. I get bored too fast. Or maybe it's just that I enjoy projects more than the finished product.

If it weren't for mods, I don't think I could stomach owning any car longer than a year.

Jeff, you have a very short attention span. How did stay focused enough to make two babies?

Kidding....yes the novelty has worn off a bit, even for us.

I couldn't ride in the car in May-June, the weather sucked, life got in the way in other ways, and some of the thrill is gone. BUT, we're not modding it. It's fine as it is. It's still fun to drive, and we'll be hanging with other folks this week at a meet.

Maybe that's what you need to do. Sign up for the meet!!!! Feel the S2K
