Default TV remote control died

so the tv is about 2 years old and last night went to turn down the volume button and come to find out, all other buttons work, excpet for the lowering volume feature.

Would you spend $60 for a factory replacement or would you buy one of those cheap, wallmart remotes?

I'd take it apart and clean the circuit board under the rubber button pad with some alcohol, and focus under the volume button top and bottom. This has worked for me on several occasions.

I'd take it apart and see why it's not working. Usually they're those "switches" that are part of the circuit board itself, below the rubber button (well usualyl rubber, or plastic) there will be a trace pattern, when the button is depressed it contacts the two sides. If something seeped into the button area and covered the trace with something that might prevent contact. Open it up, rub it clean with something simple like a pencil eraser. If it's the enclosed button type, it's probably toast. Alternatively look for a break in the traces and fix it, probably unlikely though.

Otherwise... Cheap replacement.

btw what are you feeding the tv? comcast? dish? dtv? cause they all come with universal remotes unless you feed it directly to the tv from the wall

Get a Harmony remote and put all the other ones to bed.
