i hear a light buzz kind of tick while accelerating? not sure if its the new intake or my valves?

i actually have over-reved once

but not an over-rev that mad my tires lock up and leave smoke!

i was at about 65 in 6th and went to pass someone and when i went to downshift i didint wanna drop it into 3rd so i figurd 4th would be good enough... well i kinda had trouble getting it into fourth(guess my stroke was off) and accidentally put it into 2nd i let the clutch out slow and realized it right away so i slammed the clutch back in but...

not too sure if you'll see anything by taking the valve cover off but it's pretty easy

this should help

Removing the cover isn't actually going to tell you a lot, unless you've mashed a cam etc. but that would be a much bigger noise Make sure it's cold before you remove the cover and oil will run onto the exhaust and down the back of the engine so it will smoke when you start it again. Don't over torque the 10mm bolts that hold the the cover on the squishy rubber things and try not to lose the one by the oil filler cap behind the engine. Push the cables on the firewall behind the engine before you try and lift the cover.

at 65 mph , downshifting to third will do nothing to the car. Third gear is good for 90mph . If someone pulled up to you to race and you were at 65 you would want to put it in third if you wanted to have a chance.

A over rev is say you were doing 140mph and put it into third

If you down shifted into a gear that is capable of going the said speed you were at at the moment you downshifted you are safe

Ah , Loosing my mind

He has a 95% chance he is good . 2nd is good for 60mph , the few extra mph might bring the mechanical rev to 9500rpm . Valve train is good for 10K rpm .

Better safe than sorry . Checking the retainers is not a bad idea ,but if you do not know what you are looking for you are just wasting your time .
