Good for them. It is hard for customers to get good service from Wal-mart employees when the employees themselves are getting screwed by the mgmt.

The way they treated employees has always been a pet peeve of mine and one of the main reasons I avoid that store, if I can. I'll spend a few bucks more and shop at a business that gives employees benefits and treats them fairly. Why should I make the rich guys richer if they don't share it with the employees who are in the trenches, so to speak?

THIS is how they pass along low prices? Screwing the employee? Not exactly good business practice.

Judy occasionally has to kill time between appointments in the Orange/Athol area. She has gone into the local Wally-World and checked prices. On most items she would normally buy at Stop & Shop, Wally's prices are the same or higher.

I've never gotten good service from a Wal Mart employee... but I don't think that had anything to do with them getting screwed by management...

Personally, I always thought if the Wal Mart employees couldn't find a job with better pay/benefits, they, by definition, are not worth said higher pay/benefits.

Really? So you think employees that are feeling lethargic (from not getting breaks) and upset (from working w/o pay) have no effect on their customer service?

I know I sure as hell work a lot less effectively if my boss piss me off or treated me unfairly. I am sure Walmart's low pay attracts the lowest qualified applicant in terms of skill and education. But they are not necessarily jerks. Corporate culture plays a huge role in shaping their customer service.

So be it. If they only can offer low price on the backs of their employees, isn't that a shame?
