Ill be visiting Boston for about a week. Ill be visiting some cousins that are going to college up there. They are familiar with the area but don't go out much, so they dont know where to show me around besides the area around their college. I was wondering what is there to do in Boston at this time of year. Im looking for anything from tourist stuff to bars.
Also any great restaurants to eat at that range from expensive to hole in the walls.
I will be catching a Celtics game there, that is only thing ive planned so far.

Duck Tours is pretty sweet if you can find a spot. There's always Boston Commons which is a nice walk, Harvard Square, etc.
Yelp.Com has a great list of restaurants and things to do. If you're into oysters, B&G Oysters is a pretty nice spot.
Enjoy!

If you like beer try taking the Sam Adams Brewery tour. It's cheap (free, but recommended donation is a few bucks). You get to do a quick tour then a tasting of three different Sam Adams beers. Check the schedule for tour times. They also have a shuttle that runs to a nearby pub, if you order food and a Sam there at the time if you brought the ticket from the tour they would let you keep the glass (those curvy Sam Adams glasses).
I think it might also be worth checking out the Publick House (Brookline). It's a casual pub with a bunch of beers. Pop in for an appetizer, get the pot of mussels in the spicy broth (chipolte, or something). Had it twice and it was very tasty. I can't comment on the non-spicy ones but man the spicy ones were good. Since they have 8-billion beers I recommend the La Chouffe (Belgian). Pricey (like 9 bucks) but very interesting.
Check out Harvard Sq. Walk around down there. If you're an NPR nerd when you pop out of the T look up and you can see the Car Talk's "puzzler tower" with the window sign that says "Dewey, Cheatem & Howe". Hit up see Harvard Yard, The Garage (shopping), and since you're freezing you butt off walking around in the middle of winter stop in at L.A. Burdick (brattle st.) for some hot chocolate. It's pretty good stuff and I don't really care for hot chocolate.
I'd write more but I got to get back to work

Traveling to Boston from So. Cal in the winter is more like a punishment than a visit. You must have done something bad.

If you were here this weekend you would have seen 40 MPH winds with gusts up to 70, 28 degrees and 18 inches of snow. It is called a Nor'easter and they hurt. This one was called a wintercane because of the category 1 hurricane winds that accompanied it. The average winter day is in the 30s and it is not unusual to have a string of days in the 20s and teens. The wind chill factor will drop the "feel" of that temperature by another five or ten degrees. Boston is the windiest city in the US, so wind chill is always a factor. As I look out my office window I see ice across the entire Charles River with only a few spots of open water remaining.

Also noteworthy if you like beer, check out the Harpoon brewery. I went last December, its $5 and you get a tour then all you can drink in the bar, the tour guides are very enthusiastic about getting the tour over quickly so you (and they) can drink more.
If I go to a brewery tour I want to check out the brewery, what makes them unique, etc.
Thanks for the tip, I'll steer clear of this tour.

Let's hope the OP has better luck with his trip than those taking to the Friendly Skies this past weekend.
