Default Visiting Boston this weekend

Hey fellow S2k'ers, Me and a buddy is visiting Boston, this weeken, horrible timing with the weather, but we booked, 2 months ago. Anyways, what are the chances that we;ll be able to drive up to portland to grab some maine lobsters. Also where is the best place to buy some? as far as taste and price. Also, is it cheaper to buy there and just ship them back, or can we bring them as carry on. any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Unless you have some other reason to visit Portland, I'd save the drive and head up to Woodman's on Rte 133 in Essex, MA. Great "eat in the rough" (i.e. indoor picnic tables, paper plates, etc) lobster, and they claim to have invented the fried clam. I've had many an excellent lobster there. Or as we say "lobstah".
We don't need no stinkin R's here.

Last I knew, you still could carry them on the plane. A good fish market will package them properly so you won't be eating dead lobsters.

The highways should be good, but if Portland (or any city) gets a lot of snow, local travel could be a real pain.
