VTEC and when it kicks in
Someone told me that VTEC only kicks in at 6000. That is interesting because my car feels like it takes off at 5000. Is that factual? Is it possible that since they dropped the top rpm from 9k to 8k that VTEC would kick in 1k lower on the AP2?
Thanks, that is unfortunate as that give the vtec less range than the 9k AP1
VTEC (which stands for Variable Valve Timing and Lift Electronic Control) is an electronic and mechanical system in some Honda engines that allows the engine to effectively have multiple camshafts. As the engine moves into different rpm ranges, the engine's computer can activate alternate lobes on the camshaft and change the cam's timing. In this way, the engine gets the best features of low-speed and high-speed camshafts in the same engine.

It's alright. The AP1's needs the extra 1k rpms to keep up with an AP2.

Yep it is still a truly fun ride and I swear that the car has an effect at 5k
