If you want him to look sharp as an fitted you can go with Express.
Fitted pants, fitted jackets, from what I recall your son to be in similar shape as me. All of their stuff fits me well, not euro tight, but not sloppy American car sales person krap.
They might not be highest quality but so far pants lasted me about a year, I wear them once to twice a week. He wont wear it as often as I do but when he does it will look like he is wearing a tailored suit that could have cost him easily thousand dollars +.
They have some great sales, So the $300 to $400 mark shouldn't be hard to stay with in. When you come in, ignore the immature clientele, and non stop buzzing employees that just won't shut the **** up. If you can deal with that, your son will look sharp.

Do you mean the "Express" stores you see in the mall?
I like the idea of getting something for him that will look good on him, given
his build...might as well take advantage of it by getting him something that will
look tailored and more expensive than it really is.

Are there employees there that are knowledgeable on how to measure him up
properly? I'm getting the feeling that this store is going to have employees
that are still in high school that will be listening to the music playing rather than
concentrating on helping customers.

I want him in a suit, I'll be wearing one so he has to suffer too.

Poll the other parents and find out what their kids are doing. He'll be miserable if he's the only teen in a suit!Don't torture the poor guy.
There is one thing to look overdressed and another to look better then others. In this case it is a wedding and I believe that looking sharp goes a long way. Dress to impress at all times. I find that you better off feeling comfortable wearing a suit as soon as possible vs getting it on your own one day and feeling funny.
I agree with Lainey if this was a 10-15 year old. But his son is 18, 19? So it's time.
Plus for me wearing a suit is a Blast.
and girls love it.
Yes Express Store at the Mall. It will be up to you to find the right fit. Which is easy to do, I can always help with sizing. Express employees are completely useless. You get what you pay for, in this case they invested money in clothing, but not the staff.
Just take a look at www.express.com it will give you a good idea.

Some folks like to dress up, some don't. Just like I would not force a kid, young or old to eat a specific food, I would not force a young adult to wear certain clothing. As long as they are neat, and clean in appearance, it's all good. Just my .02
Years ago, there was an unspoken rule that women weren't supposed to wear black to a wedding, or God forbid white as they would be accused of "upstaging" the bride. Now, folks pretty much wear what they want, and you even see jeans at weddings and funerals in the last little while.

Rick's suit comes out for funerals, and only those that were immediate family
I've mentioned it to him and he didn't seem to be against it so I'll go
forward with getting him one. He is going to need one anyway with
his senior year of high school coming up.
