Default Windshield cracked!

I was working at one of my clients facilities today. Car is parked all by itself with nothing near. I came out about 4 hours later in mid afternoon and I notice a crack centered at the top of the windshield extending down about 10 inches. The top was up when I was inside. Bear in mind that there was nothing around and no marks of anything hitting it. The windshield was already replaced last June due to a rock hitting it. This sound like anything that could of been caused by heat? It wasn't that hot today and I had it out in hotter weather last year. Could it have been from a faulty install? Anyone have any ideas? I know for a fact that there was no crack when I went in. At least insurance will cover it again. I just hate the fact that I need to have it done again.

Join the club, yes a faulty install can cause it. Myself I had mine replaced last summer it was a nightmare went thriu 3 of them plus the original before i got one i could live with. Take note of which one it was a pilkington oem or something else and try another brand this time.

I had this happen to my TT. Check to see if there is another hit from a stone that it almost imperceptible. I thought it was a crack from heat ... the glass guy, Steben here in West Hartford...and the best around here IMO....saw that there was a hit from a stone.

sorry for your trouble

To date I have been lucky... When mine was replaced due to a flying Twonie ($2 Canadian coin) I had a little argument with my insurance company about what was going back into my car, in NY the insurance companies cannot force you to go with specific repair shops or non OEM parts, so I had my dealer order me a Honda OEM glass and all the proper molding strips and then a body shop did the install. It was a hassle, but the work turned out great. I was just so bummed I had to replace the glass I really wanted to get anotherone that said Honda on it.

Good luck with your next replacement!

If it cracked due to install, you may still be covered under the installation warranty from June......this sounds like a defect in workmanship.

J N Phillips is coming tomorrow to replace it again. Lucky that in Mass it is covered by comprehensive. I hope that this is the last time.
