Default Winter Beater/MPG

2 questions, since I bought my car on Thursday
Does anyone on here drive their S2k in the winter? I'm planning on getting my parents '99 camry as a beater since they are looking to get a brand new one in a few weeks.
What kind of mpg should I be looking for, and what's the range on a full tank? On edmunds, it says 20/26, and range of 270/330 for a tank.
The person I bought it from had a 1/2 tank, and that only lasted me 100 miles or so. I thought this car had good mpg. Seems like A/C really takes up a lot of gas on it. Search function doesn't work, so I thought I would start my own thread on it.

Congrats on the car, Some people on here do drive the S yr. round, I'm sure they'll be posting soon. Just be sure to have a great set of snow tires. As for mpg, that'll vary on your style of driving. I've been over 28 mpg when I've been doing mostly highway driving.

The tank is small and the gauge is setup with plenty of reserve. The car is pretty economical but if you exercise it at all then your MPG will drop to something like 12 MPG.

I'm not the type that's going to push the car a whole lot unless I go autocrossing or track. I'm just trying to see what type of mpg I should be getting driving on the highway between 55-70mpg in 6th gear, and how long a tank can last.

260 miles per tank if you don't V-tec all the time

gas should be the least of your concerns - tires are big $$$s as is the cost of insurance.

but i did drive mine all year long and it was fine with a set of dedicated snow tires and remember it's rear wheel drive

I have consistently gotten 26 MPG when I drive the car casually but have seen a noticeable drop when I am a little more aggressive in my driving.

I would strongly recommend a beater for the winter if you can swing it. I know some people drive theirs year round but no way I would do it.

I've driven mine four times now for 730 miles on the highway...that's Wheeling, WV to Lee, NH...I let the gas light come on, find the next Exxon/Mobil and I usually fit 11 gallons in it. 11 gallons seems to take me about 260 miles and I drive between 75 and 90 the whole way. My favorite speed is 92 in sixth because that's 5g's on the tach and it's also not too fast that when my radar detector goes off and I get on the brakes I can be at 65 quick!!!

I can fairly easily get over 300 miles in mine cruising at 75 mph or so on the highway. My typical range is ~270.

I've never tried to measure the actual MPG my car does. However, the gauge drops noticeably quicker if I have been driving particularly aggressively (i.e. accelerating hard). Also, the car really seems to suck up more gas in stop & go traffic and when I use the A/C. When driving highways at a relatively constant speed the car seems to get pretty good mileage.

Also, the digital gas gauge seems to be back loaded in that the end of the tank seems to last longer than the first half. I had a '93 Prelude many years ago which also came with a digital gas gauge and it did the same thing.
