I talked with the seller of the auction and he seems like a nice guy. The car though is pretty beat. I think the cost to replace most of the parts would probably be right around a good condition s2k.

Here is a partial list of parts that need replaced
motor 4-5k
seats 600 stockheadlight ??
paint 1500 maybe less
top 1000? maybe for hardtop
front bumper ???
+ cost of car 5-6k

so after everything is done it is right under the cost of a running good condition s2k.
I guess my autoX/track car will have to wait.
Do any of you CTers want to go to an autoX event. I would like to take a ride in one of your cars to see how it handles. I'll give you a ride in my car Check www.cartct.com for the event dates and let me know which one you are going to go to.

Why would you even want to replace the headlights for a track car? Same thing with the top, to take it on a number of tracks you need either a $800 roll bar or a hard top anyhow.

Because it will be driven on the street. it is not going to be a track only car.

Ahhhhh..... I misunderstood then, you're not looking for a race car. You're looking for a street car to race occasionally. I'd definitely abandon the idea of starting with a shell, look for a decent car instead.

yeah, like i said before, hold off until you find a good clean S in good condition. Just check AutoTrader.com.
There are quite a few in our area (within 50 miles) for sale at reasonable cost

I saw a very reasonably priced s2k at ExtremePerformance. it was under 16k dollars granted the mileage is at almost 80k. i am just scared about the integrity of that dealorship. i'll keep looking around.

So do any of you s2k guys gonna go autoX?

Mostly at Devens(in Mass ) and NHIS (in NH) . I'm not sure if anyone in the group does it in CT.
