Ok, so I just spent an hour and a half out in 90degree weather mowing my lawn.

who cuts yours?

at least I've got a 48 inch blade but it is a walk behind mower so I get more exercise than I want.

 

I bought a Scotts tractor when we bought the house 8 years ago. 20 hp twin cylinder Briggs & Stratton with a 46" deck (3 blades). It's been awesome! Not for just mowing, but hauling stuff around the yard too.

 

I don't find mowing to a big deal, but that's cause I don't need to mow a lot - 1/2 acre wooded lot. It's the rest of the preventive/maintenence yard work that I still can't figure out, i.e. liming, airating, dethatching, overseeding (slit seeding vs other methods), pest & weed control, watering.....

Since I am sort of a new home owner I am still learning but I find that there is just too much information out there to digest. Many solutions to just one problem with no good review/rating source.

So, please post your yard maintenence routine.

 

You've been to our place. Lawn mowing isn't a big deal.

I do it more often than Rick does, since I get home first. Toro, self propelled 20 year old mower still hanging on.

 

I do what my wife tells me to do

one landscaper told us "you do liming in the fall" with a sneer.
we have pine trees so we're always putting lime down.

we tend not to do the early spring fertilizer becuase the yard hasn't been cleaned up.
need to do grub stuff really badly. we lost a lot this year.
I should have gotten some of the areas seeded but i think I waited to long.
I don't sprinklers so it is tough to play catch when it is this hot. the seed just won't germinate.

 

here how to cut a wide swath but I wish it was a rider.

Got a Used Honda mower(6yrs old)....self propelled walk behind I think.

 

Got a honda self propelled I just walk behind it and steer but it still takes me over an hour. Speaking of with all the rain we had I gotta go mow my field now.

 

I kinda miss mowing the lawn I used to be the sole grass cutter in my old house. Had a small Honda push mower. Took 2-3 days to do all the acres there, was GREAT exercise.
