Just got an email from a good friend that recently bought a new boat in NJ and piloted it up to the Dolphin Marina in Maine. I had asked him how it did on KPG Knots per gallon. His response was not to bad you keep it cruising at 8 knots per hour and you get ..... you ready for this .... 1 Mile per gallon he went on to say cruise any faster and it gets real thirsty. Not for the faint of heart id say And we all thought suv's got bad mileage.

I predict a LOT of "floating cottages" at the marinas this year.

The sail boat guys are feeling pretty smug right now, especially since SOME of the power boat guys often made fun of sail boat guys.....

I have a buddy down in maryland with a 38' with twin 454 V8's.

two years ago it was a grand for a weekend of playing and that was when the street price for gas was ~$2.00 a gallon.

You'd be surprised at the number of boat owners who operate on a shoe string budget, but they love their boats.

The old "if you have to ask how much, you can't afford it." Doesn't apply to all of them.

Me, you couldn't give me a boat. A house on the water, maybe, a boat, no.
