Default crime

I realize this can be a sensitive topic.....I will be moving to Albuquerque and have been reading about a higher than average crime rate in Albuquerque. Is there anything to watch out for when parking my s2000 or myself. I'll be living in the NE but plan on discovering the city.Any warning, hints or advice would br appreciated.

I've worked and lived in the Middle East and South America[ which I enjoyed] when I was younger and realize crime is everywhere.Any input would be appreciated.
See you soon.

NE is a pretty good area. Your s2k will be pretty much safe. I had 2 s2000's and not once did it get messed with. But yes car theft is high here. But not a sought out car.

A garage will be your best friend... no doubt about it.

You shouldn't be worried too much about it. Just be aware of your surroundings, neighbors can become your best friend of they keep an eye out. Like Brandon said, garage is your best friend and keeping your home secure is a must. Albuquerque has a bad wrap for crime but I feel if you are nice, respectful citizen then everything is will be fine.

Good suggestions. If you have a car alarm great, if not don't stress it. Like it was mentioned it's not really a targeted car. Like Doug mentioned about being respectful, treat others good you should be fine, act like an A$$ then you will need to be more careful.

Crime like you said, is everywhere you ever go. Not a lot of problems. There are some places to aviod around the base. If you don't see APD blocking off a couple of blocks for a crime scene, you will eventually.

I am not sure where or what NE stands for, I need to get out more with work permitting.

Like Doug said, respect gets you far here in ABQ no doubt.

For the person who asked, I worked in the aerospace industry, born in Montreal and have had sports cars and motocycles most of my years.
My move to Albuquerque is friends and relatives and I love the Southvwest.
I'm 62 and probably could afford a Porsche etc. but I find the s2000 reminds of my youth having a raw sports car with a few frills.I've been driving an s2000 since March 2001 and my hope is Honda will wake up
and get back to racing.BtW thank you for all your thoughts about keeping safe.
