Default my s2000 build thread...

welp. today the head came off the car. Head was perfectly fine. no damage up in there like was suspected. upon further inspection, cylinders 2 and 4 had some nasty scoring like the piston was slapping around in there. probably the cause of the horrendous ticking noise. cylinder 4 had a hair line crack up on the head of the piston as well. so basically I'm looking at a new bottom end. So much for buying a low mileage car that I planned on keeping stock, right?

Well the final verdict is in. I'm going all out I guess. haha.

bottom end:
CP Pistons 9:1 87.5mm (0.20 over), Inlinepro rods, ACL rod bearings, ARP headstuds, benson sleeved block. After the block is sleeved it's going directly to LASKEY Racing in Anaheim to get assembled, blueprinted, and balanced.

top end:
Head is going out to LASKEYRacing as well. Gonig with Supertech SS Nitrade valves, Supertech valve springs and retainers, and 3 angle valve job.

tuning:
Kpro modified for s2000.

clutch:
still undecided.

turbo set up: ????
still up in the air. still deciding whether or not I should turbo it now, or wait til the motor is broken in (leaning towards the 2nd option)

As for a time frame, i'm shooting to have it all done by August so it's running nice and good for my roadtrip to S2KI Homecoming II in September.

Hmm I guess Jared and Jeff advice would probably best. But sounds like a good plan Will.

It seems that even stock bottom ends can withstand a little boost pretty well... with sleeves, rods and pistons (and a decent tune) it's gonna be indestructible.

there are a few sets for sale on the sponsor engine and drivetran deals. i know when its time to do my motor im going all J's racing. sean told me that Ptuning is coming out with a new turbo for the S that is going to be the best out there now. he knows the owners and i guess they told him that they are going to be pushing around 700hp for a little over $5000.

P-Tuning is the shit. I would go in pretty much whatever direction they recommend. Are you talking about the Sean that used to work at AutoZone with an EVO IX MR??

here's some pictures on the carnage. I figured Darton sleeves, CP pistons, and either inline pro rods or brian crower rods, and rebalance stock crank.. AND have budlongs do the assembly. If anyone has more advise though as if this is a good set up or not please chime it

piston 2

piston 4 (hair line crack on the top)

Yeah, I was over there all the time when I lived on the westside and was building my Turbo S2K. We talked quite a few times. Nice guy!
