Kaehr plating on Candalaria and the freeway has done some a few sets of rims for me before. 200 bucks for all 4 wheels blasted then coated and cleared.

Let me know how long they need them for.

Not sure if I want to do it now, since the car is garaged, or when I get back.

I know I need some rear tires. For some odd reason I don't have much tread left on mine.

so how long ago was thish $50/whl offered at kaehr?

would it help if I mentioned this forum?

I'll pay more... if I can get a good powdercoat for $300, I'll do it. If I can get it for $200, I'll be ecstatic.

Gonna take the wheels up tomorrow and see what they can do.

If you go to Kaher you have to go in and talk to Steve!! I believe was his name. Because usually the owner answers the phone and charges $75 a wheel instead of $50.

talked to Steve @ Kaehr... no dice

Here are the quotes I got (all are "per wheel")

Kaehr: $75
Action powdercoating: $65
Synergy: $75
Quality: $100
Southwest: $75

Looks like Action is the cheapest (for me at least) @ $260.

oh, it gets worse.

My wheels have some cracks in the factory coating, so I called to confirm that the $65 price at ACTION POWDER COATING included sand-blasting. They confirmed it included a full sand-blasting.

I show up this morning and they say that since there are cracks in the factory coating, it'd be $85 per wheel. I ask "wait, I thought you guys sand-blasted anyway?" and their response was "well, we normally just scuff up the factory coating, then powder-coat over that. I told em I had places that did a full-sand blasting for $75 a wheel and I'd take em there. They said "see ya."

So I go BACK to KAHER with the wheels and the receptionist there is like "well, I can't give you an estimate but I know it starts at $75 a wheel and a min of $100. I ask "a min of $100? what does that mean?" She tells me in addition to the $75/wheel, I'd have to pay at LEAST 100 for the powdercoat material. I ask "a $400 min for all 4?" and she says "yep". I say "thanks but no thanks."

At this point, I'm done messing around with these guys. I may try SYNERGY at some point, but I've spent enough of my day off today chasing prices.
