Default RGR SCCA Event #1 @ Santa Fe Downs

For those of you looking to get into amatuer racing, SCCA SoloII competition is a great place to start. The first auto-x of the '09 season is this weekend.

Event Date: March 15th (Sunday), 2009

Event Location: Santa Fe Downs

Event Cost: $30 for SCCA members, $40 for non-members
Annual memberships are available online @ SCCA.com

Registration Opens @ 8:00am (Probably need to be there by 8:30am in order to get teched, walk the course, etc.)

Pre-Registration Link: Event #1 Pre-registration, Entry List

Event Chair: Chris Kiser

If you have any questions about the event or car classing, feel free to PM me or ask in this thread. Also, there is a discussion thread on RSW, if you'd like to read about it there --> RSW Thread

I hope to see a bunch of S2000s out there! I will have mine there, but will probably be trying out an '06 STi because I won't have my new clutch broken in by the event.

SCCA SoloII is time trial competition. One car on course at a time and one hot lap at a time on very technical courses. The courses are usually designed to keep speeds below 75 mph, with an average around 45 mph...if the lot is big enough. The events favor accurate, precise, and consistent driving. They are a really great way to learn car control and improve your driving.

If you post up a list of mods you've done to your car, we can figure out what the appropriate class is for your setup. There is a class for just about every level of modification.

You just need to have the appropriate safety gear - working seat belts, brakes, decent condition seats, etc... and you shouldn't be turned away. Just make sure you're not leaking fluids, your battery is securely tied down and your tires have adequate tread left (no cords showing). Those are the main causes of ineligibility, in general. SNELL2005 or greater helmets are required for drivers (and passengers for that matter - but 1st timers aren't allowed to take passengers, initially). There are free loaner helmets available at the events.

Thanks for the warm welcome, s2kshift9k.

I am intrested in future events. Mainly working on every other weekend like this one, will keep me away.

I am just waiting for motor mounts and a clutch at the moment.

I have never done a SSCA AutoX. Though I have extensive driving schools, and expierence. Would I need to provide course certificates?

I appreicate the info.

I am not a street racer by anymeans. After driving in places like Saudi, Kenya, Pakistan, Yemen, Iraq, Afghanistan, and others you learn a few tricks.
