America....F-YEAH!
So, after 16 years (and you thought the DMV line was long!), they called my number and I went in and took an English test (lame) and a American civil test (pretty cool actually). I passed them and last week, I was sworn in as the citizen of the US of A!
The ceremony took over 3 hours as I, along with a few hundred others, had to be processed individually. It shocked me that most still didn't speak English (that's for another discussion). The federal judge gave his speech, stressing that it's an honor to serve in the military (I guess I'll be drafted soon) and in a jury (the notice is probably in the mail lol). Then, at last, we took the oath and swore to defend the constitution of the United States of America and then we pledged our alligeance to the flag. Despite how corny it was, I felt great (though mentally worn from waiting 16 years).
PS- celebrity sighting. I saw Isaiah Thomas and his lawyers in the lobby as I was going through security. I guess we were in the same courthouse.
America- F-yeah!
