I never like hearing this news but confused why everyone goes nuts every time it happens. Sorry for anyone's loss that has been through this or similar.
I would think thousands of cars get stolen from the greater NYC or tri state area and yeah some are more sought after than others, some are easy targets, some aren't.
A guy at work had his Range Rover Sport stolen last year and a guy that we sub controls work to had his Jeep SRT/8 stolen, random? Or are there a bunch of guys going nuts on a range rover or jeep message board trying to figure out what happened?
yeah i get it, S2000s make up a small percentage of cars so when one gets stolen it's news esp. on here and esp. if it's just used for parts to keep some other S2000 on the road or track.
We don't live in Nebraska so in 2018 you'll see a similar thread three or four times just like 2017, just like 2016...

Once a "rare" car gets to be about 10 years old it's prone to theft for parts. I used to own a TR7. Once it was 10 years old I had to treat it like it was gold sitting out on the curb. I can often remember coming up to an abandoned wreck on the side of the road back in the days stripped down to the bare uni-body. Not a particularly valuable car; just the parts are hard to get.

Theres a couple of guys around woodbridge area that have been known to target s2000s. I know they were responsible for a some of the thefts that happened a couple of months ago in Union and Clark. If possible, keep your cars inside and always be weary where you take the car.
