OP: set up a meeting with the seller but let the police know. Hopefully they can come with. $2000 sale price.... Either he's also an idiot or car has been parted out completely. GL

I didn't get a chance to look at the craigslist posting until it was flagged. Did anyone get the info? If not its okay...

I'm curious how all these cars are getting stolen. Could they be getting keys cut from a dealership? A Honda Del Sol was stolen from my town on Jan 2nd. 4 total hondas from my town in the past 4 months or so. I feel like this is a professional, although illegitimate, operation that's possibly stemming from an individual that works at a Honda dealership or someone connected to a dealership. Does anyone know if dealerships keep records of when a vin number is searched in their system? I was considering calling dealerships in the area to see if my vin had been run/used at their dealership in the past few weeks for a key or any other reason.

Thanks!

Sorry to hear about this on going problem.
Honestly, it makes me consider getting another toy to replace mine. A Porsche would probably be safer.

Good news - my car was recovered. I was able to see it at the police evidence location. No parts were removed from the car that i could tell - hard to believe, right! The only damage was the break-in damage from the person that stole the car. They didn't have a key or get one cut at a dealer. They cut the soft top roof and the ignition key receptacle was cracked off. They must have used a stand alone ecu to get the car started as the plugs to the factory ecu were still unplugged when I looked inside the interior. If a garage isn't available I recommend a hardtop, clutch lock, and battery or fuel pump kill switch with a hidden switch. Any of these would drastically slow down or stop a thief. Of course if they used a flatbed or tow truck there's not much you can do to protect against that however this was not the case with my car. It was driven away.

Wow. Lucky! How many miles did the thief put on? I guess he was just looking for a joy ride?

Only a few miles (maybe 10) were put on the car. I believe it was stolen for parts but was found before it was parted out.
