in regards to the rt615's, did you notice any difference with the weight of the tire? I read that these are supposed to weight a good 5-6 pounds more a tire than the others in the same size
Yes, I have read the same thing about the weight issue. I love numbers so lets compare to other tires. Just for the record, RE01R is a better tire than RT615 from every source I have read. But it also costs 50% more.

http://www.falkentire.com/rt615_sizes.html
RT615
225/45/17 - 25.3 lbs (but sidewall is reinforced)
255/40/17 - 27.5 lbs

RE01R
225/45/17 - 25 lbs
255/40/17 - NOT LISTED so I will look at the 245/40/17 -- 26 lbs

http://www.bridgestonetire.com/tireselecto...Product_ID=1063
RE050 oem spec
215/45/17 - 22 lbs
245/40/17 - 27 lbs

Tire weight is an issue but if they added weight to reinforce the sidewall, I can live with it. Or if it's for safety. These are still street tires. Losing weight on the corners = best place to lose it.

While I'm at it:

RE070 CR Spec
215/45/17 - 24 lbs
255/40/17 - 28 lbs

RE070 STi Spec
225/45/17 - 27 lbs

wow Jon I am happy you brought up the weight issue, I actually hesitated to purchase these tires because of it. I don't remember making these many comparisons and am happy to see the RT615 isn't obese. Maybe a little fat but not far (and in a case, slimmer) from other tire weights.
