Not a fan of pepper spray too messy and in close quarters you're going to end up hitting yourself too. You can carry a decent sized folding knife as long as it's fully concealed (ie no belt or pocket clip showing). Inside 3 meters or so the knifes more effective anyway.

Hmm good to know. But if you are carrying one, this pretty much excludes you from being able to go into a place that pats you down?

You think brown is bad, try walking through airport security with strange last name, olive skin and hairy arms toting a carry-on stuffed to the brim with tubes full of round metal disks and electrical cables. On the TSA radar I go from white to arab faster than you can say Guantanamo Bay.

Honestly, I've never been searched at the airport/subway/tunnels.

I got searched at the path station 3 times and it was hardcore racial profiling cause I was surrounded by white people lol

I also got all my belongings, shoes, wallet, bags, etc put through that explosive material scanner or whatever at the airport

I've been left standing in my socks and boxers in private screening rooms more times than I can count.

That's old tech, they got this new cotton swab that runs along the zipper of your luggage then they throw that into a scanner that looks for explosive residue. Really efficient and speeds up the profiling.
