I'll be at the track sat for the Miata drive, any suggestions on a nice B&B and area to visit afterwards/ sunday w/ my wife? Park, lake, leaves, shops etc..

Back to the question... Directly in the area is, as said, mostly residential.
If you're looking for shopping, head to Rt 9 in Freehold. Just about every store has a presence there, along with a good size mall. Plenty of traffic to deal with as well.
If the weather stays nice, head East and a little South to the shore. I'd say that just about nothing on the boardwalk will be open, except for a few year round places. There's still restaurants that will be open. Again, if the weather's relatively nice, you can always just watch the waves from a bench.

When are you scheduled to drive? My time is 945am on saturday. I am not sure what time I will be leaving but I am at exit 48 on LIE? I know there are a few other guys heading down, maybe we can convoy.

I'm on for 11:15, will be leaving the Bronx around 9 or so, coming across the GW. Seems a little late.
I don't mind driving an hour or so in any direction for a getaway - not familiar w/ the state - so any tips would be appreciated.

An hour from Englishtown is just about most of the state, with the exception of the Southern most coastline, and the areas in Northwest NJ (Sussex county area). You can easily get to my area in an hour from E-town, and a few miles further puts you in New Hope PA. Tons of little shops and restaurants, and if you do some searching, I'm sure you'll find a little hotel to stay in.
Freehold Borough, or is it township Township has a little Main St (Rt 537, East of Rt 9), and thats within minutes of the track.
You may want to be more specific in what you're looking for. Try some Googling and see what comes up as well.
