What you pay depends on your age and where you live. I'm paying about $1200 a year in up-state New York, and I'm over 50.
You being in the City, your going to pay a lot more.

You can't ask questions like this. Everything is so dependent on the indvidual that's why they ask you all those questions when you apply for insurance.

Driving Record
Residence
Employment
Marital Status
Age
Gender

I am sure there are more but all of these apply. Unless you find someone that meets you exactly it just doesn't work. Some people will say yeah I pay 1200 a year but that includes their other car which they listed as their daily driver. Or 1200 a year and I am 21 but it's under their great aunts name. It's all BS if you feel you are paying to much the only thing you can do is break out the yellow pages and start calling around for other quotes. I was paying 2200 under my name then I switched companies and now I am paying 1800 a year.

yeah, 20 you're pretty much screwed. Let me put it like this when I was 22 I had a Z28 LT1 Camaro. I use to pay 500 a month. Price you pay for being young. It doesn't get much better either, if you stay single, until you are over 28. They pretty much kill you if you get a ticket. NY/NJ area have the highest insurance rates in the nation every year. The only thing you can do is get a beater that you claim to use everyday and list the S2000 as your secondary car.

I don't know if its the same for ALL insurance companies left in NJ, but, I don't believe you claim primary car anymore. You claim your distance to work, and that classifies you.

With two cars however, as turbo says, your first is listed for work @ X miles and the other is listed as pleasure. I guess its effectively the same thing.

My insurance is 1800 a year for 2 cars. 800 for my 00 Civic, 1000 for the 02 S, both listed as pleasure (<10 miles to work). Before the S, my Civic was 1200 a year, so effectively, my insurance went up by 600, but the distrubution changed considerably.
