If it's too good to be true...
As some of you know I have been looking for a 'summer' car for my wife. I know I know its almost winter . Searching through CraigsList I came accross an 2002 Miata for $4620 with only 51,520 miles. My first reaction was it must be a typo but, hey, you never know. So I emailed the guy and asked to see the car since it was posted under Long Beach area in Long Island. It was even an Automatic so it was perfect for the Mrs.
My email to him simply says that I was very much interested on seeing the car and possibly making a deal this weekend. This was his reply to my email:

no! get a NA Miata. Those look nicer.
get a honda beat ...somehow get one.
I am guessing the range is sub 10k. How about a MR2 Spyder? Unwanted cars but the early models have a precat problem that supposedly kills the car.

it's a scam, if he's asking $4600. and he will pay the shipping, that leaves him around $2500-3000. by my guess. He really can't be that strapped for cash

Agree to meet him to pay cash and pick up the car .. see what the response is . If he can't meet you , ask for the phone number and address of the person you will be meeting .
My guess is that you will never hear back from him.

sounds suspect......why wouldnt he post it were the car is located....why go thru the hassle of shipping when for that price he could sell it in one day where he lives

When I was looking for an S there was a fellow 'selling' one on Ebay in Garden City who wanted me to give him $5,000 up front to 'hold the car' while he 'cleared the title' paying off the lease with my $5,000 and when the title was clear and Honda sent him the clear title, he would then contact me and we could finish the deal.
When I said 'No', the guy dropped his front money request to $2,000.
I walked away.
Buying a car is usually an easy transaction.
