Default Metro NY 2011 bbq chat thread

Hey guys, need some more input and feedback to get this done. Speaking to many at the recent meets we seem to be leaning towards holding this bbq at Eisenhower park. The location seems doable and many are familiar with the area since Auto-x is held not far and all our recent meets have been doing well close to this area.

Anyway.. depending on the size of the gathering, proper permits are needed and of course there are rules. I will be contacting the park tomorrow or monday for more details and will be posting them here.

We do not have a date yet and I am thinking sometime after the July 4th weekend.

Questions, comments and concerns .. post it up! Let's get this going.

It doesn't affect to be, but FYI it's $10 parking for non-residents this year.

Yeah they always have rules for non residents. I read that they require 75% of participants to be residents of the county. Not sure if some things will still apply if we pay for a permit. Maybe we can find another place that is less restricting. Not so sure if people will be willing to pay the 10. Let's gauge the intrest and see what happens.

This is why I am aiming for something on Western LI or Queens. I don't want to make it a huge drive for NJ people or the East Enders. If it was up to me I would do it way upstate where there are way better parks but that wouldn't be easy for most to get to.

Eric, I think that would be a little far for NJ and some Queens people. I think I been there it's a nice park. Maybe we can do a regular sat meet or something there.

Sunken Meadow park is real nice too, parking lot is huge & they have a beach. My vote is for Eisenhower though.

Bear Mountain area is nice for a very early sunday/saturday morning drive. A Cars and coffee of sorts. That is in the works as well.

thank's Kev. I will look into Sunken Meadow.

Even if non-residents pay 10 and say another 10 to chip in for food. 20 bucks for a nice car meet with S2k owners.. Worth it if you ask me. Jersey and Queens guys, is that price ok with everyone?
