Indoor car parking is way more than $175 in Manhattan - it costs me $200 for single a motorcycle spot (which is on the cheap side).

Don't bring your S to Manhattan - it's a waste. The roads/traffic are horrible. If you're in one of the outter boroughs it might be worth it, but have never lived there and cannot comment.

Edit - I would never ever park on the street either - you'll find new dents and marks on your car everyday (depends on neighborhood, but its inevitable)

Queens. I walked by a real estate office the other day and they had a garage listed on their window for 100. My area has some elderly folk that rent out garages since they don't drive. Cheap garages are out there. They just require much more effort to find.

Back in the day I rented my retired neighbors garage for 75 a month. 75!!!!! He then rented it out to some other guy for 150 and let him park his car and motorcycle there.

live in LIC and you can find more than enough street parking. Ive been street parking for about a year now and haven't had any problems. Theres a black CR in my area who parks outside all the time too.

i would be garaging it in the 5 boros if i lived inside the subway zone. if i was living in Manhatten, i would probably not have a car. Just get a rental or zipcar as the need arises.
