Default Need some input guys

OK so I just realized today that I have a tear right above the passengers right shoulder. I also noticed some wear in the same spot on the driver side. I went to my insurance company and the best they could do is let me pay my deductible and get the top replaced. My deductible is $500. So I could either patch them both or pay $500 and get a new soft top. Also, any successful techniques to patching it? I have 3m rubber that I might just cut a piece and use contact cement for both sides? Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks again guys!

this is a common problem with our cars. Did you buy your car from a dealer? If so, you maybe able to get it cover because there is a tsb for the top. That's how I got mine done. Patching it will not solve the problem, it has to be fixed.

Just ordered some pieces from a member on the forums. Going to use some goop and the OEM material and do a patch.

I would take that offer and get it done now. That offer might not be available a year or two from now then you will end up paying twice as much. But before you get the top replaced, find out where is the metal that's causing the tear and sand it down smooth.

Yea after further inspection, there are little wear marks and pinholes all over the top. I can't really tell why though because none of the frame really feels sharp. I think I'm going to have to get it replaced. But I mean how sweet is it going to look with a fresh new top!

Just called my local service center and they said that it doesnt affect my 2004 Honda s2000. It starts in 2005. So close! They said they are going to call me back, hopefully with some good news. If not, I currently have some gorilla tape from the inside on the tear and wear spots. I ordered OEM patches from a member on here and going to do a real patch with goop when they come. I might just rock it patched considering im still in high school and I dont want people to mess with a brand new top. As long as it doesnt leak Ill be fine with it.
