8/30 Drive Finalized
We are going with the following as the final plan:
* Rochester group to gather at 9:00 Am at the Sunoco station on Route 332 approx. 1 mile south of
Canandaigua thruway (route 90) entrance/exit.
* Everyone meeting at the Sunoco station be aware that we pull out at 9:15 am and will be on route to
Ithaca which should result in a approx.11:15 am arrival at STEWART PARK where we will meet up with everyone
else.
* The thought is once gathered we head towards Watkins Glen for Lunch somewhere, there we can finalize
the days run with everyone.
* Our thoughts are:
1. Making a run or two of the old race course as we did last year.
2. Make some stops at wineries.
3. Stop for Dinner 6:00ish Where?
Hoping Eric can lead us on the Glen and winery run.
Hope this plan will work for everyone? The original thought of leaving Roch at 8:00 is just to early, it would require some to be up at 6:30 to make 10:00 at Ithaca. Based on last year getting there at 11:15 should yeild plenty of time for the days run.
Everyone remember FRS radios, and member Cell phone number list.

Best wishes for a great and pleasant weather
I'm sorry that both Skip and I (Ithacans now and before ) will probably miss the drive, but glad that Jimbo will add some purity to the event :GPW:
Stewart Park, Lake Cayuga, Wineries, The Glen= Perfect Stuff

I'll work out a nice route from Ithaca to Watkins Glen that includes the famous Rt 327.
Are we still planning a stop at Taughannock Falls State Park?
Do you want visit wineries on Cayuga or Seneca Lake, or both?

Eric,
Thanks for your assistance.
Were open to whatever wineries you recommend and where to eat lunch Watkins Glen or Ithaca?
Thanks,
Jeff
See everyone at Stewart Park around 11:15am.

I'd like to suggest two wineries, Heron Hill and Miles. I have no idea where exactly they are or if they're near each other but they make some of the best NY wines I've tasted.

11:15 at Stewart Park now? Okay then, I will be there between 10:30 and 11 am just to be safe. This will give about 30 minutes of extra sleep time then too. Yayyyy!!
See you guys there then.

Are we buying lunch or bringing lunch? I like the idea of a bag lunch at one of the lake front parks. Are we finishing at Stivers/Crows Nest in Geneva at 5pm or 6pm or another place? Let me know so I can change reservations if nessesary. See you all at Stewart Park.

There are over 30 wineries on just Seneca Lake alone. I have the wine map, but have no preferences on which ones to stop at. Miles is on the West side of Seneca Lake along with 14 others. Still looking for Heron Hills. New NYS BAC limit is .08 for DWI, still .05 DWAI. Just rinse, spit and we should be able to pilot our ships.

Heron Hill is on the west side of Keuka Lake... out of way for this trip. Miles is a possibility. I was thinking of starting on the east side of Seneca, then we could easily stop at some on the west side of Cayuga on the way to Geneva. But, the west side of Seneca would work just as well.
Lunch in a park sounds like a good idea. There are several places for take out or fast food in Watkins Glen for anyone that didn't bring lunch with them.
