If it was my only vehicle, and living up north, something that can handle getting groceries and the snow would be at the top of the list.

It doesn't have to be your only car.

Say you had a truck or a compact car that you use everyday and you wanted something sporty, what would you buy given a budget of $35K

I like the idea of the E9x M3 too. You could slap snows on them and drive them all year.

As I have the civic as a DD, I was wondering what car in the current market would be a sporty buy if one had to buy a toy. Perhaps I'm too much of a fanboi, I keep leaning towards the CR.

Paul - is the 911 SC that cheap?

Still an S2000. Not a CR, ugly aero and no soft top kill it for me.

I really want to like the Mustang, but it is just too big and heavy.

I know it's not really a sports car but I really like the mini cooper S. I've driven one a few times and it's really fun.

Mini fits the definition of sporty and is a good candidate.

I drove the base Cooper and loved its handling. Imagine the Cooper S would only be better.
