Hardtop Question
lolls,
I just read that you have wind noise. Besides what I mentioned, there are factory shims that can be placed under the front latches on the HT. With the front latches shut, the factory instructions indicate the targeted alignment of the HT front edge to the top of the windshield frame. Beside cosmetics (alignment of surfaces), you get more or less gasket crush and thus better or worse sealing quality. You can get these shims (85101-S2A-901) from Majestic Honda or your local Honda dealer. My I suggest you buy new additional mounting latch screws...and for that matter HT striker screws if you go that route. Use the proper Phillips bit...I recall the OEM softtop striker screws were #3P and not the usual #2P. They have Loktite on them and you don't want to strip the heads coming out. Drill driver with a strong push worked.
These are the install instructions I used...not sure if they are the latest. I noticed that they don't contain the front alignment and shimming I just mentioned. I must have got that info from somewhere on the s2ki site.

Thank you for this info. I deff have some adjusting to do.. It's really the drivers side latch that rattles now.. Once Brian (bm612) comes back from his vacation, were gonna adjust it. I'm sure with all this info we will get it perfect!
What mike s. posted is exactly what I will be doing. I believe that your top already has the shims in it so that is why it is not properly pulling down onto windshield frame. We will have to remove some of the shims so that it will seat properly.
wow lolls that black on white looks amazing. Brian, I hope you get that OEM HT soon so I can swipe your old one from you! I'm itching to see what the black looks like on my GPW.
I'm gunna be rocking the two-tone color scheme all year!
Also, what a great community. It's awesome to see people helping others. SO SO SO happy I bought my S.

I replaced my strikers but only because they came brand new with the hardtop. They're only a necessary replacement on 00s and 01s as Levi said. Hardtop strikers are a different design and part # than the 02+ OEM softtop strikers, but they work equally well in my opinion.
You'll be fine on your car lolls.

I'll sell the OEM HT strikers/latches if anyone wants, just PM me.

Props on the mini-stand. I need to build one of those, I am also contemplating a hoist instead so I can take the HT on and off myself, then just store it near the ceiling.
I've found that the strikers wear a bit. I had '02 strikers and the metal was just worn down to the point where they got a bit looser than they should be. I'd thought about just putting a dabble of JB weld there and painting them but instead I picked up a brand new set and they fit much tighter.
If you have new striker and you're still hearing creeks... first hit every seal with some shinetsu grease. If you suspect the striker is loose try putting something in between the hook and the striker. My tool of choice is a lollipop stick or fold up a bubble gum wrapper. If you clamp down the striker with this in there and the sound goes away, that's your loose striker.
