Default Hardtop rear defrost question...

not sure if this has been covered before... but I was wondering, when I turn on the rear deforst on the hardtop... would the defrost in the folded soft top be switched on at the same time as well?

No and yes.

If you plug in the hardtop to the electrical connection, the soft-top heating unit is over ridden and only the hardtop heats up, so no.

If you forget to plug the hardtop in, then yes, I believe the soft-top window heats up.

Once the hardtop is installed the soft top defroster is deactivated whether or not you plug in the hardtop defroster.

The switch in the left-side hardtop mounting bracket (has two wires in it, green and black) grounds the green wire when the hardtop is installed. This does two things. Signals to the car that the hardtop is installed (maybe to lock out the top raising mechanism) and also latches a relay that switches the power from the defroster circuit to the hardtop wiring instead of the softop glass.

If you get the plastic rear window option, no worries, mate.
