Default New Tire Time!

YEP! Time for some new RUBBAH! Im coming off of Bridgestone Potenza RE-11 that were excellent..I just dont feel like spending $1000 on tires again. I was thinking of going with the Hankook Ventus V12 evo2. Any suggestions will be appreciated. Thank You.

Sumitomo HTR Z III

They seem to be good and offer most bang for the buck.

If you like grip and performance you can't go wrong with either of the following:

Hankook RS 3's
Dunlop ZII Star Specs
BFG Rivals

Something more in line with the Sumi's is the Continetal DW tires.

If my tires don't pass inspection this year (they were iffy last year, but I put less than 1k on the clock last season), I'll be replacing my bastardized mix of RE-01Rs in the front and RE-11s in the rear with the Dunlop ZII.

I would have bought the Hankook RS3s, but they are not the bargain they once were. I guess word got out about them.

Mark I would go with an max performance summer tire than an extreme performance summer tire like the RS 3 if I were not autocrossing or doing track stuff.

The sumitomos are the best bargain right now. But I'd also look at the continental DW. Max performance and ultra high performance summer tires have good enough performance for group drives and canyon carving.

Believe me the RS 2 I had on the Si was a lot fun. 10k miles later they had worn down to the cords. The Ventus V12 K EVO 110 I put on afterwards have lasted about 30k miles and have been good for street driving.

I'm running RS3's on my S. Excellent grip and feedback, no complaints here. Can't go wrong with them!

It's all in what you want for performance versus wear...
Hankook Ventus V12 evo2, will last longer than the softer R-S3 but won't offer the extreme performance the R-S3 does
If you want the performance go R-S3!
I think the value versus performance ratio is still very good with the R-S3, sure the price has come up a bit, but the R-S3 is a big step up from the R-S2
But of course the V12 evo2 is part of the $80 rebate program in effect till end of May

I love my R-S3 !!!

As an example
215/45-17 - $137
255/40-17 - $149

215/45-17 - $139
255/40-17 - $173

Should I run the original size of 215-45-17 & 245-40-17 or go up to 225-45-17 & 255-40-17 or 215-45-17 & 255-40-17?

225 in front and 255 in the rear fill out the wheel wells nicely? Are you lowered? Keep that in mind for any potential rubbing issues.
