PSA that upholstery shops and body shops shouldn’t replace your soft top
I wanted to share another story of why you should never let anyone unfamiliar with the S2000 replace your soft top. I see errors nearly 100% of the time when removing old tops that have been previously replaced, and i wish i could say this was the first time i've never seen a rain rail installed but it is not. This is why i carry all the factory parts, rain rails, oem clips & fasteners, cables, etc in stock.
Here's some pictures of a top i removed and re-installed this weekend on a S2k that was leaking water into the car, which led to ruining his customers subwoofer box, amp and electronics. This top was just replaced by a body shop who said they had experience with these...
-Rain Rail completely missing
-Soft top straps installed wrong
-Tensions cables not installed
-Headliner/soft top frame covering installed wrong
-Front part of top glued, not oem factory doubled sided tape (Always a huge mess!)
-Front of top misaligned with new holes drilled
-Split roll hoops
-Christmas tree clips in everything, not OEM clips
After remove and re-install
