on the 14th we had 5C in the evening. Heating for us has been going on for some time here even with the days at 12 to 18C. Installing a heat pump last year has made keeping the cottage warm a lot easier with a lot less wood needing to be burnt. Tuesday we drove north to visit relatives and this morning the temperature was -3C at their place. They are putting their winter tires on today. My wife has packed her Norway maps so continuing north after our visit is certain even with the possibility of needing winter tires.

Only 500! That is criminal. Even with the short time mine had tags it went 1300 miles. Yes it was mostly traveling out of necessity and very little pleasure driving but just the same I did get to enjoy time behind the wheel.

I find it hard to believe that they’re thinking about snow tires there already. In terms of Fahrenheit I’d say temps here are on par with what you’re experiencing. How long of a trip will it be to Norway? And are you taking the MX5?

Just haven't had time to drive the S2000. But every time I’ve driven it, it’s put a smile on my face.

Riche, how much wood do you burn during the winter? Do they measure it like we do...in cords?

It was 26F or less last night and will be below 32F tonight and not warming until above until between 9 and 10am. We are currently above the arctic circle and the weather changes fast, it's a different world. No all season tires here just full summer and full winter tires. When you have to leave for work before 7 it is possible to have black ice or snow at anytime. Tonight -1c for Sonka.
At our cottage, central Finland, it isn't getting this cold yet.

kuutio, cubic meter of fire wood. Not sure how much we use. It's a summer cottage, no running water, outhouse and not much for insulation. we spend time there early spring to late fall and have been there to wake up to ice on the puddles in the fall and early enough for ice to still be on the lake. Wood is used for the fire place, sauna stove and in the water heater in the sauna. This year we had an old tool/wood shed removed and replaced them with two separate buildings. 7 large trees had to be cut and a few small so there is plenty of wood to be split and stored in the new wood shed,
Having been at the cottage for over a month being guests here is different. No fire to start in the morning for hot water, no water to carry, etc

Polished up the car and drove to Mystic last evening. Here for a wedding. But top up because the +1 hair-do can’t be mussed. Car looks good.

I worried all night about the car getting stolen from hotel parking lot. Right at highway exit, visible. Easy to hook up and be gone.

Did you regale the young couple and the guests with your exploits from Lime Rock?
