Bucket Seat - Mounts
I have a thread started over in the racing and competition subforum - but to the folks here running bucket seats, what mounting brackets are you using?
Seems like the standard choices are the PCI or Planted, but those are a full plate option and PCI indicated I'd lose 1/2" - 3/4" under the plate.
I intend to get as low as possible and don't want to start 1/2" in the hole.
So to the folks running race buckets - any recollection what mounts you used?
Greg? Paul? Shiv? Rico?
I`m currently leaning towards these:

These would likely get combined with an OMP seat - heading out to HMS tomorrow morning to sit in a couple dozen.

Mikeyyyy! So for the driver side on my car I used the Evasive mounts. I would HIGHLY recommend AGAINST THEM! Their design is 2 individual rails that don't connect to one another. So getting them on the seat and set for the mounting position is an absolute pain. Additionally each side has a lock for the slider and once the seat is installed it is next to impossible to actuate the inner lock facing the transmission tunnel. So my seat is basically stuck in its current position. And finally only 3 of the 4 mounts lined up against the factory holes so I had to drill a new hole for the front left mount. PCI is definitely a popular pick. If I could do it again, I would most likely run the PCI mounts. In regards to losing space, also keep in mind that depending on the seat you choose, you will be sitting lower down in the seat than the stock seats. My sparco seat with thin padding has me sitting super down low and still leaves plenty of space above my helmet. Hope this helps!

I`ll definitely steer clear of the evasive mounts - I`m expecting the two piece rails that I`m looking at to be a pain in the ass, but I think it's worth it to get low. It`ll only be trouble on the day (or week or month) that it takes me to install it.
Ideally I want to start running top down, and every inch is going to count.
Do you miss the sliders? I was planning on a fixed mount.

I actually don't miss the sliders at all. Once I got the position set to what was comfortable, I never really thought to readjust it. Also i was only doing spirited drives and track events with the car at that point so I didn't need the extra convenience. Another option is the Buddy club super low rails (not sure exactly on the name). Did you decide on a seat yet?

Thanks for the pics Greg. I`ve heard of guys mounting them directly to the floor, but was never really sure what that looked like or whether it was an option for me. I think that they all had cages so I assume that it's something like what you did.
I`m going to steer clear of the buddyclubs just because of their reputation. Sure I could get it rewelded, but why pay money for something that needs to be fixed on the day it arrives?
I still haven't gotten an answer to my questions from FR Motorsports... Dissappointing, but I`m not sure what the next option is.
I went out to HMS motorsport in Boston last week. They have 20 seats in the showroom - mostly Cobra's and OMPs. I had my eye on the OMP Champ and the OMP ARS. With both of these the front of the sides tapers down and should make getting in/out a little bit easier. With both, the sizes are similar to the Sparco EVO2 and I think they`ll fit worst case I`ll need to bang the trans tunnel or shave the wings on the seats a little.
The shoulder/harness holes on the Champ didn't line up for me, completely blocked by my shoulders. They should be a little bit higher on the ARS but HMS didn't have one available at the time. They've ordered one for me to try, and hopefully it`ll come in mid January.
After HMS I went out to Turner Motorsports, just on a whim. They had two recaros that didn't fit me, but before I left the guy said, "Hey, want a tour?" and who could say no to that.
They started with the service area - 6 or 7 customer cars in for oil changes, brakes, etc and 1 engine rebuilt. After that, the customer car storage area which housed Will Turner's personal BMW collection, a couple Ferrari's, and the first Pagani I've ever seen. Apparently they were helping to coordinate getting the car shipped back to Italy to undergo some maintenance. The tour ended in their race car area. They had a brand new M4GTS fresh in from Germany, an M6 getting rebuilt after a `vette put them into the wall, and a handful of their old cars that have gone on to become customer cars. The tires on these were some of the biggest I've ever seen.
The guy giving me the tour said he's been there 4 years, and it still feels like working in a candy factory to him.

After buying a couple different brackets, I would go PCI.
I would also contact PCI direct and order from them.
The new design opens the chassis bracket up . The only trouble you may have is dependent on how wide the actual bucket is if you elect to go the sliders route.
The bucket will hit the slider before getting to the bracket.
HMS (regarding Schroth harnesses ) & Evasive for PCI brackets dragged their feet as long as they could.
I ended up purchasing items from Stable Energies in NJ.
I would also contact PCI direct and order from them.

Interesting to see how Kirkley cut the anti-submarine hole in the seats. I need to so something similar to my Vintage 31 seats.

Some race belts have a quick release latch that holds the belts down under the seat.
