1 armed undercover agent per flight
I saw that in europe they have at least one armed undercover agent who flies on every single flight. That is all it would have taken to stop the box-cutter wielding arabs on tuesday.
The bullets may puncture the plane and decompressed it, but that certainly would have been better than what happened.
Hopefully there is some fairly cheap way (1 agent per flight seems fairly cheap) to insure against anything like this again.

I think this will happen, even if they have to arm him with a specially designed gun that won't pierce the skin of the airplane. They don't need to make it all that high-power since it will be utilized from close range. Make the bullets hollow point too, for less penetrating effect.
In Europe the airports are filled with cops with automatic weapons.
In England the cops don't carry guns except in the airports and there they travel in
pairs with machine guns. US airports are no longer going to be policed by mall cops.
Things are going to change and it sux that it has to.

Not only are they talking about having armed Marshall's on the plane again, they are talking about having the airport security taken over by the federal government. No more rent a cop, joke of a security guard. That would be the best thing to do.
