doesn't the 12-21-12 theory come from the supposed end to the mayan calendar?

Makes you think?

Those damn Mayans!!!!!!
So pretty much what were saying is that because they got a little lazy and didn't plan for more years, it must be the end of time?

How hard is it to reach the end of the calender and say "Uh, it's done. Let's just keep adding 1 now to last years stuff and keep going."

The 12-21-2012 theory is based off the mayan calendar, which they believe on that date the sun and earth would be in-line with the center of the milky way galaxy, which I believe is correct. Yet, in their ancient history, they believed the center of the galaxy was a great evil and on this date would be released onto earth. Their astronomy predictions are amazing and have predicted every full moon by only 21 seconds off of the exact time to this date. But this is getting off subject -

I'd rob a bank.

If I ACTUALLY believed that we had only five years left I would cash in my assets and not work. I have got enough in home equity and retirement to limp through five years with a decent standard of living.

Spend my time seeing the neat places left in the world like Galapagos and so forth.

Last Night (movie)

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0156729/

although not the best movie, shows people on their last days on earth and what they'd do and how they'd cope.

Money would become worthless. Gold might be worth something as a medium of trade due to rarity, but not intrinsically. Martial law, most likely. 100% military draft? Mass suicides and lawlessness. Skills would be in high demand - if all you can do is operate a McDolands register, you're SOL. Resources like food, fuel and weapons would determine the truly rich. Depending on the source of the "end of the world", extreme mobilization to solve the problem (Mars/moon migration, underground megalopolises.) Charlatans galore selling snake oil.

Me? I'd try to figure out the winning team, and make myself an important part of it. Otherwise I'd likely be shot by somebody who wants what I have.

So true.

In the movie road warrior, when they show the evil guy with the metal hockey mask on, demanding gas from the good guy camp....I would so be the guy 40 feet back and to the left , almost out of frame, driving dune buggy number 5 and supporting my neighborhood warlord.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
