I am still thinking that the Chinese are going to play a large roll in this season. They were very vague in the first episode about the large price the US paid to get Jack back. Also, we know from a couple episodes back that Jack's dad and brother turned him over to the Chinese in the first place. China is too big of a player intertwined in both Jack and Jack's family not to surface again in a big way. Maybe they are backing a larger, global plan by Fayed, whose prerequisite is to detonate 5 nukes on US soil.
I suppose I am the kill joy here but I am still not feeling it.
I still like the premise of the show, but I have to say I am getting really tired of the Way CTU will use some technology to solve some problem they have too easily in one episode, but it does not apply in another. The over the top plot twists are starting to get to me, and every scene has someone screaming into a cell phone at somebody else. It just feels so old hat.
My advice would be to go a different direction entirely. If you are going to have some terrorist designed plot or espionage, have it take place in another country. For example, say Jack is with the president on a trade mission and something happens. Everything would have to be done differently. Different culture, find a new network of friendlies to help him out, less calling CTU back in LA. Just a new feel, or something different.
IMHO the show relies to much on white house politics and calls to Chloe in every episode that it feels dated. I used to feel like I could not miss a single episode, but now I can skip three and not miss anything new.
