Default 3~4 years without driving

I'm moving to a country where I refuse to drive myself in fear of the recklessness of the driving population (not to mention the suicidal pedestrians) there. So for 3~4 years my company will provide a car & a driver for me. Question is, I've never gone more than a month without driving since I turned 16, and I'm not sure how it will affect my driving senses/coordination after my assignment is complete. Anyone have any ideas/experience?

Where are you headed? Iowa?

I've not experienced it myself, but I'd imagine it's like any other skill: if you don't use it, you lose it. (However, it should be realtively quickly recovered once you start to drive again.)

Is there any countryside where you could drive on weekends? Countryside without suicidal denizens, of course.)

Mate i can barely stand a week. I've been disqualified for a year (7 months, 13 days to go). I still drive everyday, I have to for work. and the s still comes out on weekends, but only during the day.
I miss driving at night.
how your gonna go 3-4 yrs is beyond me. I couldn't do it.

I don't think you'd loose to much of your skills though. look at guys like Jackie Stewart he's 70 or 80 odd and still trains F1 drivers. and despite not driving my s as much anymore, I think I'm actually still getting better.

Rich, you'll be fine. Maybe a little rusty for a short while when you first get back, but nothing you can't recover from.
