It's pretty clear that all the facts of the story are not present. If it were such a clear cut case, why would there be two trials and two hung juries?

I think the article is pretty clear. It states that there was some evidence that wasn't permissible ( the marajuna in the house) and that there was a clear argument for self-defense.

I don't know also how liberal the self-defense/property laws are in er, washington?

I really don't think this has much to do about race other than a poor showing by the DA.

I hope the families can take the to civil court and "win" there.

Either way, this did seem like a conflict and although it is sad they were killed and it seems like the "white" guy should have got more time, the "dark" kids messed with the wrong "white" kids.

Dimitri should have probably been put away before for dealing drugs and owning a semi-auto anyway, he seems like a very dangerous guy regardless.

I used to live in same area thats the reason why we moved out, theres alot of screwed up things, like how the Seattle police pushed my Uncle off a bridge and told everyone that he slipped? I personally don't think this is fair. If people were charged for 20 months in jail for killing 3 humans, i think that their would be alot more homicides.

nothing illegal about owning a semi-auto weapon.. you don't even need a permit.

to play devil's advocate.
It seems that the dead guys trespassed into another's property, refused to leave, then used their car to again trespass.
this guy had a valid argument of self-defense, albeit excessive.

lets take this at face value a bit...

guy wanders into my property...we get into a verbal fight...he leaves and comes back with friends in a car....somebody is getting shot!!!

When they pulled into the yard they were in a vehicle capable of killing the guy (car as a deadly weapon)...he doesn't know what they are about to do...he does not know if they are packing weapons

it sounds like some threats and other exchanges were made....Most likely "Hey, assface! I am going to go get my buddies and come back here and kick your ass"....whoops! Sounds like to me the defendant simply took him at his word and defended himself and his home.

House containing pot has nothing to do with nothing in this particular case. Race has no bearing either.

The slant on this story is troubling and I am pretty sure more justice was served than it appears....we dont know all the facts. Obviously there is some pretty persuading evidence to help the defendant here or there would not be hung juries.

i should have been clearer, the fact that he had drugs in his house and owned a gun and pulled a trigger 20 times, leads me to believe he was an unsavory character prior to the incident.
it may not be relevant to the case, but its evidence of his character.
