Even the crappiest colleges graduate a rate 20 times that amount.
Stop picking on TheRaptor and his beloved USC Trojans. They've suffered enough in the BCS standings this year.

When I'm done with community college, I won't be able to continue on unless something drastic changes (maybe I can win the lottery I don't play?). No one will cosign a loan, I can't get FAFSA based on my parents' income when they were employed.. who knows if I can next year when their taxes will show they aren't employed, and I don't even live at home, but I'm a dependent under FAFSA no matter WHAT until I'm 23? 25? This whole system is bullshit.

All the right-wingers want is private schools, and for people to pay $$$$$$ for it. Well.. they've already got that shit with the public schools! $18k/semester with room, board, and spending money at SFSU. That's UC money.. and if you factor in room/board/spending budget in to a UC per semester (not just classes) you're at PRIVATE SCHOOL money.

**** this system for sure.
The answer to this is simple. Tell your parents to stop listing you as a dependent on their taxes and file your own. You'll qualify for student aid.

Yes I practice what I preach. My dad did this so I could get loans to go to school.

And you think if all schools were privatized based on the conservative-bias it'd make things better? No, it wouldn't. At least I can pay for community college. If everything was privatized I wouldn't have been able to go to school period

They stopped when I turned 18 so I could actually get money from the state and feds during tax returns, instead of owing money.

But on the FAFSA form, if you're under 25 (23?) you HAVE to put your parents' income.. it won't let you fill out the form unless you do. And they've been unemployed all this year, and some of last year, and I had to rake up stupid C/C debt to pay for classes/books/etc.

Maybe they're doing their taxes wrong, but I'm 99% sure they don't claim me as a dependent. At least I'm not living with them anymore.. so I think that helps??

This shit used to not bother me, but then I took this critical thinking in politics class.. and now the lack of reform in our government pisses me off to no end

Student loans are for suckers . My company paid 100% of graduate school tuition. Only have to stay employed with them for two years, already finished one

Go get hired somewhere and explore their educational benefits. Most companies have programs such as this. Call your HR department.

Most companies that do offer this aren't hiring entry-level's. Believe me, I've been down this road. Also, I'm not in grad school

IBTL

But seriously, as a byproduct of CA public education system, I have to say that they're still pretty competitive cost wise - but cost of living can be a major stumbling block.
